THE PAPER FASHION SHOW
For 20 years, The ONE Paper Fashion Show shines light on Colorado talent. Since 2004, over 550 paper fashions have been created and consequently viewed by thousands of curious, enthusiastic observers—there to celebrate this beloved art medium.
Designers create fashions from paper donated by high-end paper mills and coordinated by Kelly Spicers. These fashions are showcased on our grand runway show and voted on by a panel of judges. Category winners are recognized with individual recognition, followed by trophies also constructed of paper.
This all-volunteer organized and run fundraiser, helps support not only our mission to elevate Colorado art and design to the national level but also the non-profit Downtown Aurora Visual Arts, a local community organization that provides after-school arts programs for urban youth.
Support from the community for The Paper Fashion Show helps The One Club For Creativity Denver to continue producing cutting edge events and programs that uplift the design community and non-profit partners like DAVA.
Downtown Aurora Visual Arts
Since the Paper Fashion Show’s™ inception The One Club for Creativity – Denver has donated over $66,000 to DAVA.
From the beginning, The Paper Fashion Show has been a part of DAVA’s curriculum.
Students ages 7 to 17 research ideas, learn to draw figures, think about design, colors and patterns to create their fashions. These students learn to problem solve and to work on a team while gaining leadership skills and real world experience by participating in a professional event.
At the show, DAVA students work alongside professional designers and creators, see their fashions walk the runway and even participate as judges.
“Through the Paper Fashion Show™, students have been able to show leadership and participate in a professional event as team leaders, interns, judges and models,” says Viviane Le Courtois, Program Manager at DAVA. “Students are excited about the project every year, it adds something to our program that is unique.”
